Samsung Galaxy S8 to launch in March and come with 5.5in 4K display? Are you still ready to buy the Samsung brand?

Following the demise of the Galaxy Note 7, many analysts thought that Samsung would bring the launch of the Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge forward to try and regain some customer loyalty. Those predictions could well come true as the company is expected to unveil the new flagship on 26 February, at least that’s according to a leakster on Weibo which has been picked up by Phone Arena.

The leakster also says the S8 will come with a dual edge curved screen, similar to the recently launched Xiaomi Mi Note 2. Given a dual edge curved screen is rumoured, the leaked specs will likely refer to the S8 Edge, but it’s interesting to note that no flat screen version has been mentioned. However it would tie in with rumours from the Korea Herald which said there would be no flat screen variant for 2017.
The S8/S8 Edge is also said to come with a 5.5-inch 4K display, which of course will only show its full potential with native 4K content and there’s been two different processors listed. They include an Exynos 8895 or Snapdragon 830, it could be that Samsung will make two versions of the phone, destined for different markets. The fact the post on Weibo says there’ll be 6GB and 8GB RAM versions could tie in with this theory.

No flat bezel Samsung Galaxy S8 for 2017, tipped to have Edge screen only

Other features are said to include NFC, Samsung Pay and an 80 percent screen to body ratio.

The post says the S8 will be announced on 26 February, a day before Mobile World Congress. If true, we’d likely see the Galaxy S8 on sale in Marching

How does the Surface Pro 4 compare to the Surface Pro 3?

If productivity on the go is your prime directive for getting a tablet, Microsoft’s Surface Pro is most likely on your radar. Microsoft just unveiled the new Surface Pro 4, meaning it’s been a full 16 months since the Surface Pro 3 was released. It was an exciting presentation, and here are all the differences between the Surface Pro 3 and the Surface Pro 4.

Display:
The most prominent feature on a tablet is its display. The Surface Pro 3 featured an impressive 12-inch display with 2160 x 1440 native resolution. The Surface Pro 4 ups the screen size to 12.3-inch and improves the screen resolution to 2736 x 1824.

Size:
Despite featuring a larger screen size, the overall size of the Surface Pro 4 is exactly the same as the Surface Pro 3, though it’s actually a little slimmer at 8.4mm compared to 9.1mm, and lighter at 766g rather than 794g. Microsoft said that it could have made the Surface Pro 4 even slimmer, but USB ports prevent that.

Specs:
The Surface Pro 3 was a powerful device, packing up to a 1.7GHz Core i7 processor and either 4GB or 8GB RAM. The Surface Pro 4, on the other hand, is “the thinnest, most powerful (Intel) Core PC shipped,” according to Microsoft. It features up an Intel Core M3, i5, or i7 (Skylake) processor, up to a massive 16GB RAM, and a whopping 1TB of hard drive space. It’s essentially a condensed desktop.

Surface Pen and Type Cover:
The new Surface Pen now features an eraser and has 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity. A small, but quite welcome change, is that the Surface Pen now magnetically attaches to the Surface Pro rather than requiring a loop accessory.

Meanwhile, the Type Cover has wider key spacing, a 40% larger glass trackpad and key backlighting. The new Type Covers are backwards compatible with the Surface Pro 3, so everyone can enjoy these improvements.

Cameras:
While we don’t condone taking photos on your tablet, it is the preferred device for some. The Surface Pro 4, like its predecessor, features a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and ups the rear-facing camera to 8 megapixels from 5 megapixels.

Overall, the Surface Pro 4 is a significant upgrade. The display, internal specs, camera, and Surface Pen are greatly improved from what the Surface Pro 3 offered. First impressions are positive; we’ll be able to delve into the Surface Pro 4 when we get our hands on it.

Google takes Android One to Africa with the $87 Infinix Hot 2

Today Google has announced that the Android One program has entered a new continent: Africa. So far, the company’s affordable smartphone initiative has been contained to certain Asian markets.

However, with the Infinix Hot 2 handset, Android One will debut in Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Egypt, and Morocco. These countries have combined populations of 379 million people. Infinix, Google’s partner this time around, is apparently “one of the hottest, fastest growing smartphone brands in Africa”.

The Infinix Hot 2 comes with a 5-inch 720p touchscreen, an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, a 2 MP selfie snapper, a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 16GB of storage, dual-SIM support, an FM radio, and a 2,200 mAh battery. There’s a version with 1GB of RAM, and this is offered in black, white, red, or blue, and another with 2GB of RAM, which is only out in gold.

The smartphone runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop from the get-go, and it’s also guaranteed to receive an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow at some point in the future.

The Hot 2 is available today in Nigeria for NGN 17,500 (with 1GB of RAM) or NGN 19,500 (with 2GB of RAM). These prices currently translate into $87 and $97, respectively (or €79 and €88). The device will make its way to the other African countries mentioned above “over the next few weeks”, presumably with similar pricing.

That’s good news for the Africa users.

Samsung Galaxy Note5 and S6 edge+

Samsung Galaxy Note5 and S6 edge+ hands-on: First look

Introduction

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are finally official, the first – a month ahead of its established product cycle, the second – replacing the proof-of-concept Note Edge with a market-proven mainstream design.

It’s become a tradition of sorts to expect a new Galaxy Note come September. This year the schedule has been shifted a bit in an attempt to give the phablet a head start over Apple’s next gen iPhone Plus, which would probably be announced in the first third of September as well.

The Galaxy Note Edge, launched parallel to last year’s Note 4, was the spark that ignited the whole edge-screen craze – a craze, which so rapidly turned into widespread adoption with only the second-gen device – the Galaxy S6 edge – that even Samsung was caught unprepared and couldn’t deliver on the initial demand. This time Samsung has an even stronger trump card than last year’s Note Edge – they’re calling it the Galaxy S6 edge+, with hopes for the new device to inherit the immense success of the S6 edge.

Samsung Galaxy Note5 / Galaxy edge+ shared specs at a glance

1. 64-bit Exynos 7420 chipset with 14nm architecture; octa-core CPU (quad 2.1GHz & quad 1.5GHz), Mali-T760MP8 GPU

2. 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM; 32/64/128GB of UFS 2.0 flash memory

3. 16MP f/1.9 camera with OIS; Auto HDR; 4K video capture; IR white balance detection.

4. 5MP f/1.9 front-facing camera

5. Cat. 6 LTE; WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz); GPS, GLONASS and Beidou; Bluetooth 4.2; NFC; USB 2.0

6. NFC and MST mobile payment support

7. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with TouchWiz UX

8. 3,000mAh non-removable battery, Qi (WPC) and PMA wireless charging support

9. Metal chassis; Corning Gorilla Glass 4 front and back

10. Fingerprint scanner

Samsung Galaxy Note5

1. 5.7″ QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) Super AMOLED display with 518ppi

2. S Pen capacitive stylus with push to eject mechanism

3. 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm, 171g

Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+

1. 5.7″ QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) dual-edge curved Super AMOLED display with 518ppi

2. 154.4 x 75.8 x 6.9 mm, 153g

A cornerstone in Samsung’s high-end smartphone history, the Galaxy S6/S6 edge pair embraced a new design language, one that parted with the prevailing use of plastic and introduced more refined materials to finally live up to the price and features of the lineup. The Galaxy Note5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are the first to follow in their footsteps, and the choices made before are here to stay.

That applies to the materials and style but also to the features, and precious ones appear to be gone for good. They weren’t arbitrary decisions made in the blink of an eye though, and each has its reasoning, at least in the minds of the engineers behind it.

3 Verbal Errors to Avoid at Your Next Job Interview

Have you ever left the interview room with that upbeat feeling of euphoria, the one where you think, “Wow, I think I just might have the job, I nailed all the questions about the work activities”? But then you wait for a month, then two, and sadly, never get a call back?

Answering questions about the on-the- job activities aren’t the only ingredient to securing that plum position with the plush new office. It takes a lot more and besides the things you do say, there are some things you must never mention.

Apart from your knowledge of the job, there are several things you need to avoid saying to ensure your prospective employer sees you as a valuable asset to the organization. Even though there are many more on the list, here are a few of the most common ones I’ve noted while conducting interviews or recapping an interview from clients. Whatever you say, never mention these verbal blunders:

I really hate my job:

Trust me, saying “I really hated my last job” might sound stupid and incredible now, but you’ll be surprised what people will say when under pressure and in the heat of an intense job interview session.

The individual who said this was actually referring to a question where she was asked about why she wanted to leave her previous career at a Nursing home, after bagging a degree in IT and applying at a leading IT firm.

Granted it was a different career path entirely, and she did hate the job just as much as she stated, but the statement simply planted a seed of doubt in the mind of the interviewer. One of the sacred rules of any interview is to ALWAYS be positive. People are naturally drawn to positive mindsets. Even if you were a leading candidate based on your knowledge of the job, that attitude simply repels employers. It would be better in her case to say “I loved working with my patients at the hospital but I simply felt it was time for a change in my career.”

I don’t know:

You never thought it would come, did you? The day you’d be forced to say “I don’t know”. You were probably a straight ‘A’ student in class, have had years of valuable work experience, and you know everything about your career. But, as much as we hate to think so, the time does come when we have to concede our helplessness at the mercy of a question we have no idea how to answer. Sometimes, we might even know the answer to the question but conveniently experience a temporary brain fart at the worst possible time.

Well, the first option for most people when we don’t have the answer to a question would simply be to say ” I don’t know”, but that statement doesn’t exactly speak well of your problem solving skills. You can make the best of this situation in an interview scenario by following these guidelines:

Stay calm and resist the urge to fall apart into an emotional spiral; it won’t help the current situation, besides there are probably loads of other questions to redeem yourself.
Keep up a confident posture even if you’re unable to come up with a satisfactory answer to the question. Confidence, even in the face of defeat, is a quality that every employer admires. Remember the same question that gave you fits will probably prove difficult to other candidates as well.
Stall for more time to come up with a satisfactory answer if possible. You can repeat the question to the interviewer and ask for a clarification. You might not need the clarification, but the brief pause just buys you a few extra seconds to put things together up there.
If all attempts to come up with an answer during the interview fail, don’t worry, all is not lost. You still have the opportunity of finding an answer and including it in the text of your follow-up thank you note after the interview.
I have a vacation scheduled for that week:

Yes, we all love our vacations but if you’re really looking for a new job, then you shouldn’t be scheduling any interviews around the time of your vacation in the first place.

A lady got a great offer from a prime employer after doing excellently well in both the phone and in-person interviews. It was a new role and step up in her career path; she was really excited to get the opportunity, apart from the improved benefits to which she was entitled. But, to sour things, she was required to start the same week that she had scheduled a vacation.

She had a tough decision to make between shelving her vacation, or telling her new bosses about the situation and pushing for a postponement of her resumption. She opted to request for a postponement of her resumption by two weeks. The company decided they needed someone urgently and unfortunately for my client, decided the problems they needed solved couldn’t wait for the vacation to be over. The verbal employment offer was withdrawn and the board went with a candidate who had come a close second place in the selection process.

Bad for my client, but a fantastic twist of luck for the guy who finally got the job. Lesson of the day: Never make any requests for time off until you’re actually an employee of the company, especially if it’s an offer you’re unwilling to snub.

iPhone 6 Release Date Nears as Apple to Further Bring Down iPhone 5C Price

Image

Rumors claimed Apple will release an 8 GB iPhone 5C soon. Engadget got hold of a photo of the alleged 8 GB 5C’s packaging. Also, German carrier O2 leaked a document of a memo sent to employees informing the staff of an iPhone’s launch tomorrow. The 8 GB variant will cost around $85.

The reason behind this was because iPhone 5C was a bit of a flop when it was released late last year. It ended up being a cheaper model of iPhone but still expensive compared to other smartphones in the market. According toDigitimes, more than 3 million iPhone 5C units are waiting for buyers, of which 2 million are stored in Pegatron’s warehouses, while 1 million units are collecting dust in carriers’ and retailers’ shelves.

Previous reports revealed iPhone 5S was the real winner among the 2013 iPhone models that Apple came up with. The low cost iPhone 5C failed to attract iPhone consumers yielding to poor sales and profits. But making an iPhone 5C with a different storage variant is not too difficult for Apple. The company saw the potential of selling more units.

iPhone 6 release date was set to arrive as soon as September this year. The report said iPhone 6 release date will follow the previous year’s launch of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Consumers can expect iPhone 6 around September or October, according to iDigitalTimes.

It was previously reported iPhone 6 will be released in June at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers’ Conference alongside the upcoming iOS 8.

Rumors claimed two iPhone 6 will be coming this year and both versions will come with a bigger screen display. One of the new iPhone variants was speculated to enter the phablet category as one of the variants with 5.6-inch screen panel.

Also, rumors claimed iPhone 6 will pack faster and better A8 processor, and the upcoming iOS 8. The iPhone 5S’ touchID fingerprint sensor will surely receive new features and improvements.

How To Stop Worry By Dale Carnegie

Prevent Fatigue and Worry and Keep Your Energy and Spirits High

Rest before you get tired.

“Do what the Army does—take frequent rests. Do what your heart does—rest before you get tired, and you will add one hour a day to your waking life.” —Dale Carnegie

Learn to relax at your work.

“Relax in odd moments Work in a comfortable position Check yourself four or five times a day and say to yourself, ‘Am I making my work harder than it actually is? Test yourself at the end of the day. If I am tired, it is not because of the work I have done, but because of the way I have done it.’ ” —Dale Carnegie

Protect your health and appearance by relaxing at home.

“Nothing will make you look older sooner than tension and fatigue. Nothing will work such havoc on your freshness and looks if you’re going to get the worry kinks out [you’ve] got to relax.” —Dale Carnegie

Apply these four good working habits:

a. Clear your desk of all papers except those relating to the immediate problem at hand.
b. Do things in the order of their importance.
c. When you face a problem, solve it then and there if you have the facts necessary to make a decision.
d. Learn to organize, deputize, and supervise.

“The mere sight of a desk littered with unanswered mail and reports and memos is enough to breed confusion, tension, and worries Executives who build up big businesses and don’t learn to organize, deputize, and supervise, usually pop off [die] with heart trouble.” —Dale Carnegie

Put enthusiasm into your work.

“We talk a lot about the importance of physical exercise to wake us up out of the half sleep in which so many of us walk around. But we need, even more, some spiritual and mental exercises every morning to stir us into action. Give yourself a pep talk every day.” —Dale Carnegie

Don’t worry about insomnia.

“Remember that no one was ever killed by a lack of sleep. Worrying about insomnia causes far more damage than sleeplessness.” —Dale Carnegie
